Claude Code from your phone: what works in 2026

Nobody writes a feature on a phone. What you want from a phone is to see which session is stuck, answer its question, and get told when it is done. Here is how the options measure up against that.

What a phone is for

Three things: know which session needs you, answer a permission prompt or a question with a tap, and get a notification when a session finishes or stops. Typing a long prompt is a distant fourth, and voice input covers most of it.

An SSH app and tmux

Install an SSH client such as Termius or Blink, keep Claude Code running inside tmux on a server, and attach from the phone. You get the real terminal, so everything works. What is missing: no notifications, permission prompts need the on-screen keyboard, and the session has to be on a server reachable from the internet. mosh helps with the connection dropping every time the phone switches networks.

Editor tunnels in a mobile browser

VS Code Remote Tunnels expose a machine to vscode.dev, and Claude Code's editor extension runs there. It works in a phone browser in the sense that it loads. The layout is built for a large screen, and again there are no notifications.

Anthropic's own options

Claude Code on the web runs sessions in Anthropic's cloud from the claude.ai app, on a copy of a repository rather than on your machine. Anthropic has also shipped a remote-control mode that lets the Claude app attach to a Claude Code session running on your own computer, which depends on that computer staying awake. Check Anthropic's documentation for current availability and limits.

Web front-ends around the CLI

A number of open-source and hosted projects wrap the Claude Code CLI in a web page you can open on a phone. They vary a lot. The questions to ask are where the session runs, where your files are, whether it survives the page closing, and whether it can notify you.

RoamAI

RoamAI's answer is a list of sessions sorted by which one is waiting for you, approval buttons instead of a keyboard, a push notification when a session stops, and voice input for prompts. Sessions run on a hosted server or on a Linux server you connect. Today the client is the macOS desktop app. The iOS and Android apps are in development and will use the same account.

Sessions that stay up, without the server work

RoamAI runs Claude Code on a hosted machine or on a server you connect, and tells you when a session needs you. Signing up is free. Workspaces are $9 / month.
